We work on assisted voluntary return and reintegration as programmes that help migrants return home safely, a process that online deception often severely disrupts. We observe that migrants tricked by digital recruitment scams and trafficked abroad face immense stigma when they come back. On top of that, false rumours about returnee programmes often block migrants from accessing the help they actually need. International migration organisations stress that successful reintegration relies heavily on accurate information flows and strong community support. We boost AVRR programmes by injecting information literacy straight into the reintegration phase. We research the exact information gaps returnees face and develop community engagement strategies to counter local stigma. By making sure returnees and their communities get factual narratives instead of online deception, we help restore dignity and economic stability to those victimised by labour trafficking.
