Zulker Naeen, adjunct faculty, and Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), have had two research abstracts approved for the 31st AMIC Annual Conference.

The conference ran from 9 to 11 October 2025 in Mumbai, India, and centred on the theme “Navigating Digital Transformation in Media, Public Relations, and Advertising.”

The organisers selected both abstracts after a rigorous blind peer review. They confirmed acceptance on 22 and 23 September 2025.

The first paper, Abstract 580, is titled “Developing an AI Governance Framework for Communication, Media and Journalism Education in Bangladesh.”

It sits under Theme C: Ethical Issues and Concerns in Going Digital, so it speaks directly to the conference’s question of whether ethics belongs in the digital transformation equation.

Consequently, the authors set out to build a governance framework that Bangladeshi universities can apply when they teach communication, media and journalism with artificial intelligence.

The second paper, Abstract 579, is titled “Towards a Professional Development Framework: Faculty Readiness for AI Integration in Communication, Media Studies and Journalism Education in Bangladesh.”

It falls under Theme G, Redefining Communication Competencies: Rewriting the Communication/Journalism Curricula.

Therefore, the study echoes the conference objective of envisioning curricula to bring digital innovation and industry needs to the forefront.

Together, the two papers connect ethics with capacity. Governance sets the rules for responsible AI use, while professional development gives faculty the skills to follow them.

As a result, the work offers Bangladesh’s journalism and media educators a practical route into a changing field. The acceptance reflects growing scholarly interest in how South Asian institutions prepare the next generation of communicators for a digital future.
